L2 Precision Tree Felling, Chain Saw Handling, Safety & Ergonomics

2-Day Module

Prerequisites:
L1 Precision Tree Felling
And at least 6 months (1 year preferable) full time in practice of and building skills in the methods taught in L1 Precision Tree Felling methods

Course Description
This course is designed to give the participant more knowledge of the maintenance and troubleshooting of chainsaw problems. It will also cover cutting techniques used to overcome felling difficulties such as snags or hangers as well as techniques for overcoming excessive lean and decay challenges. Technique for using chain saws in high angle positions is also discussed and demonstrated.

What to Bring
Students are encouraged to bring any equipment they use and/or would like to discuss with the instructor. However it is required that students bring their own Personal Protective Equipment as outlined below.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required
  • Hard hat
  • Ear protection
  • Eye protection
  • Work gloves
  • Work boots
  • Chain saw protective pants or chaps
Please note: 
It is not necessary to bring a chain saw to the course, as we will have saws on hand for the student's use.

Classes will take place rain or shine. We suggest before departing for your program, that you check the extended forecast for the area that the training will be held. If rain is at all forecasted, we recommend that you bring appropriate rain gear, thermal undergarments if in a colder climate and a change of clothing on the day of the class.
